I got this awhile ago at a garage sale. I didn't even see the blade til I got it home cuz I was more interested in the cool soft black leather sheath. I had planned on selling this, but it is quickly becoming my go to knife. It's not ultra sharp but it has a good edge. It's a little small in my hand without the pommel, but so far it has been easy to control and hasn't bitten me. The Boy Scout text on the blade is all there and clear. There are some light surface scratches on the blade but I think they would buff out if you took the time. The sheath does not match the blade and has found a home with a different blade.

I'm wondering what this blade might be worth to a collector. I like it, but if it's worth more than I think, I might let it go. Also wondering if anyone knows what year this might be from? I've looked all over the net and haven't found one like this one yet. Lots of Western Boy Scout knives but none from KaBar yet.

If I keep it, I was thinking about making a pommel for it that was a bit longer than what probably came on the knife, so I can have a better grip. It's a great knife and it will be a tough decision to part with it.

Thanks for any and all info.

Cheers!

How about a picture?? Impossible to date it without a photo since they made several different models. It's value to a collector would likely be small with a missing pommel. Without a gold membership we cannot give you a real monetary value anyways, but could ID it with photos.

The link at the top has pics. Knowing the year would be nice, I don't think I want to sell it anyways, it's become a favorite.

Added link...

I believe it was made 1938-1941, KA-BAR/Union Cut didn't make many official BSA knives for very long. Yours is the smallest one with a 3&1/2" blade, they are very cute little knives, but made for boys which is why the handle is small. Not much sale value due to condition, keep and enjoy it.
