So, first post...yay! Anyway, had my eye on the kabar combat kukri for long enough that I bought one and planning on testing it this weekend. Just wondering, has anyone had any experience chopping through 4-5 inch stuff with it, or is it way too light for that?

welcome to the forum mate! cant say for that particular knife as ive nvr handled one before however the 8 in blade and the .9 ib weight ought to make it at the very least decent

I don't have a 1280 yet!!!! So I can't speak for its chopping ability. But I do have a 1246,1249, and a 1277 I have chopped with all of them. The 1249 is a no brainer, the LHB 1277 does really good but has just a little vibration in the handle.Your mileage might vary. But the little 1246 is just a dream to chop with. I would expect no less from your 1280. All three batoned really nicely also. Apple, Oak, Cedar ect... Hope this helps and come back for seconds.

Just looked up the 1246; shame it’s discontinued. Sexy knife and similar lines to the 1280. So seems like it should work out pretty well! I’ll post some pics of the 1280 gettin’ it done.

Can't wait to see 'em! :D

Thanks! Just got it today and already digging it. Only critique is I had to dremel down/round out the tang pin to make it flush. Super comfy handle though as expected :D

Fun weekend with the 1280 =)4F8E074A-B400-43C7-ACA5-BF020CACAE97.png C6DC6F99-826E-478F-83E7-C5C7965016B8.png C60E59F5-8030-446F-9D99-14F2A104C653.png 65592291-CE42-46B5-BC21-85C9DC02457E.png 8F465968-9F40-4248-8F48-AA3D559B4998.png A99CA180-B5C0-408E-80AF-0DFFB5993CA3.png 1599A6EE-D0EC-408A-9EA5-E3DDEC47B4E1.png
