Yes, it is built for Ka Bar by Canal Street Cutlery. Yes, it has a blasphemous glued on dog's head shield. And yes, the pivot pin is stainless steel smack dab in the center of a sea of copper shrouded bolsters.

I was captivated by this knife and carrying it around, scratching the bolsters, and letting them start their journey towards a verdigris patina. I am still captivated. The knife is well made. There is no blade play, and it just "snicks" open.

I love the Mad Blacksmith pen lanyard too.

I do like the looks of those knives overall. Is it just the angle of the photo or does the end of lockbar sit above the edge of the handles?
 
I like it. Im a fan of the copper bolsters. Its something different and i really like how the copper looks matched up with that dark brown jigged bone. What do they call it something like rootbeer brown. Anyways, I wanted to get the smaller version but am very hesitant buying anything else made by CSC. I think that their QC dept is sorely lacking.

The locking bar on mine is flush to the point where it does protrude at the thumb press towards the back. It is designed to be slightly raised in that area.

Get one from Tomar's and they'll handpick you one for no charge if you email ahead of buying.

I got the larger one specifically for the lanyard hole to use the MB pen clip.

Handpick in what sense? I want one with the lighter shades in the jiggled bone. I've only seen a couple.
 
Beautiful knife. I was so tempted by the trapper but cancelled the order due to things you listed. I'll add one more, IMHO the dog's upside down :p. I was being very nitpicky with my first slipjoint purchase...
 
I'd like one of those, or one of the other patterns. My latest CS purchases have all been very nice. :thumbup:
