tell me what your feelings are on both. i am loving the extreme but the micarta and blade shape catches my eye on the impact. I have seen a few (2) for sale and wonder if the impact is worth it. I use knives for everything, so the "depends on what your using it for" wont really work here. Its gonna cut, chop, prep food, scare sheeple, impress some sheeple, pose for pics, carve, protect, get modded, etc etc etc etc. Ready? Go!

also if someone that knows kabar (cough, moose, cough) can tell me if there is a d2 impact rerun in the future?

well d2 extreme hands down. (may be slightly biased since I got mine today) The impact looks quite limited to combat/tactical purposes - so it likely loses in chopping/batoning...hammering (though I did hear of pins breaking...maybe the kraton grip is too flexible vs leather stacks?)

Size matter with the naive sheeples :) though both pack some awesome curves.

Food prep/skinning I'd hand it to the Impact

I'll root for you to go with the impact though...just want your thoughts on it
 
I think you're confused about the Impact series, William. It's a full tang with micarta scales. No pommel, no kraton. They dropped them back in 2006, I believe.

Clich, I think that the Impact would be a better general purpose blade. IIRC, it's hollow grind, so it will slice and do general camp chores much better than the Extreme will. I used to have the Impact Warthog, in 1095. It was a nice skinner, I was dumb and sold it when money was tight.
 
sorry i didn't come across clear. I meant the d2 extreme; I have heard some broke right through the side pin hammering with it;

-another tossup out there the d2 X is more handle heavy than the usmc 1217
 
I was looking at the "new sheath" that Kabar came out with this year, that looks like the old Eagle sheath. That's the one I would go with.
