Kabar d2 extreme

Ive got one; great knife; ive used it a lot for the last 3 years, I highly recommend it. I have an atv trail that I maintain, im always slicing branches growing into it, and ive hacked out small stumps with it with ease, stays sharp a long time and resharpens pretty easily. Ive found that blade shape is really one of the best for many everyday tasks,i guess that's why that style blades been around over 60 years.

Thinking about adding a Kabar D2 Extreme to my ghb, opinions?

I have one in my collection, and so far it has gone unused, but it looks like a fantastic knife and it will do the job.

My "bugout knives" are:
Neck Knife: Spartan Enyo
LARGE DEFENSIVE WEAPON: ESEE Junglass
HIP: Chris Reeve Green Beret

The Spartan Blades Difensa and the CRK Pacific are two more I'm considering although I realize they are quite a bit more expensive.

Of course I'm not telling you anything you don't already know but the Spartan Blades Difensa and the CRK Pacific are both better knives than any KA-BAR. They have fully exposed tangs, and their steel (S35VN) should be better than D2 or 1095 for just about everything.

Of the three you've mentioned I only have the Difensa so I can't really compare. I looked into the extreme D2 years ago but only being available partially serrated (as far as I've ever seen) made it a non-starter for me personally. The Pacific is so similar to the Difensa that I can't really envision myself getting one of those after buying a Difensa but never say never.

The Difensa is a great knife. Nicely designed and very comfortable in my hands. One thing to be aware of is that it has a pretty fine tip design (probably more fighter than bushcraft) that looks like it might be more prone to damage if abused. How big a deal that is depends on you and what you expect out of it.

For the type of use the KBar is designed for, D2 or 1095 blade steel is the correct choice, both are tough and very easy to sharpen.

I like the flat grind on the silent hero but the grip seems a bit.... Skinny.... The Kabar has pedigree though and the grip is a bit more substantial.

The Spartan Difensa, CRK Pacific, and Kabar in D2 are all excellent knives. The Spartan Difensa, and CRK Pacific are a bit stronger knives b/c they are full exposed tangs in S35VN. I'm excited to see whatever you get!

I just don't know yet, I really dig the Difensa simply due to the handle alone but $425.00 is a bunch. The CRK is $100.00 cheaper but I am uncertain if the ergos would be same/similar to the Difensa? They are both designed by Mr. Harsey.

I searched GHB several different ways on various search engines. We figured out EDC, but somehow I don't think this is the GHB we're talking about.

Gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB): Known in Europe as Gamma-OH, gamma hydroxybutyrate is a colorless and odorless drug used illicitly for "recreational" purposes and for "date rape." GBH is a central nervous system depressant. It tends therefore to increase sociability and function as something of a transient antidepressant.
