I just got this Kabar Dog's Head, (top in the first photo, bottom in the second photo), and it is a really well-done version of the Kabar. Charles Karwan believed his modifucations of the basic Kabar made it more effective as a tactical fighting knife. He wrote about them years ago in (I think??) Tactical Life magazine, and the modifications have intrigued me for years. I found this vintage Camillus already Karwan-modified, including a slight modification to the blade clip and point, which I really like. I later bought the standard Kabar and modified it myself by removing the top guard. Yet the new Dog's Head handle feels just a touch better than either, tho the taper of the Camillus handle as it approaches the guard has a great feel as well. The Dog's Head pommel has been changed to accommodate a lanyard hole. Many thanks to Kabar for producing this outstanding version.

By the way, if anyone has a copy of the Karwan article, I would sure appreciate a copy.

Ive been toying with buying one for a long time I need to get one !

Traffic is rather high here :)
Sometimes i loose track of what i hadi
posted and the only way would be
to sign in and look up on "Your Post"...
Searching for other folks post is
probably going to take far more than
just a cuppa...
Mr karwan had written many articles
and as far as i am concern,
was always going to be an enjoyable read.
It was not my intention to rattle or disrepect
the memory of the late mr karwan (RiP)
by linking up the old thread.
But in the interest of knife history
it would be rather important for all
to listen to all parties regardless.
Ka-bar coming up with the doghead
was imho, way long over due
and an absolute no brainer.
