I just got this Kabar Dog's Head, (top in the first photo, bottom in the second photo), and it is a really well-done version of the Kabar. Charles Karwan believed his modifucations of the basic Kabar made it more effective as a tactical fighting knife. He wrote about them years ago in (I think??) Tactical Life magazine, and the modifications have intrigued me for years. I found this vintage Camillus already Karwan-modified, including a slight modification to the blade clip and point, which I really like. I later bought the standard Kabar and modified it myself by removing the top guard. Yet the new Dog's Head handle feels just a touch better than either, tho the taper of the Camillus handle as it approaches the guard has a great feel as well. The Dog's Head pommel has been changed to accommodate a lanyard hole. Many thanks to Kabar for producing this outstanding version.
By the way, if anyone has a copy of the Karwan article, I would sure appreciate a copy.
