My Dogshead has a slight gap betweem the blade and guard. Since the steel is 1095, I hate to have an entry point along the tang for moisture. Should I close this with silver solder, JB Weld, truck bed liner, or something?

I'm an amateur when it comes to knives, but throwing some acetone in the gap, let it dry, then use some epoxy and press it in that gap with your finger, then cleaning up the handle should suffice. I wouldn't use any quick setting epoxy though

This Dogshead Kabar is maybe my favorite version of Kabar's variations. Chuck Karwan's Vietnam Kabar modifications (the "Karbar") have intrigued me, and work really well for me on my other Kabars. The Dogshead incorporates them all and makes a really nice knife.

Glad W Wannabe Rambo Guy was there to help. The shoe polish was a good idea. I would have been afraid it would weaken it

I was worried about weakness also, and just put a touch of dye. I think I will do jb weld on my next one.

was planning to add a touch of black shoe dye when I mix the JB. maybe I will stick to epoxy.

I think I will try it, gonna check some other knives to see if I have a better test case before trying on my other Dogshead
