Kabar Ek 5 Bowie

Right after Thanksgiving I ordered two of the single edge model 3 knives, one for me and one for my brother. From Kabar during its cyber monday promotion, essentially two for the price of one. Knives came promptly, one was really sharp from the box and I sent it to my brother, who was really impressed. The second's edge needed some attention. I think it might be a higher hardness than advertised as it took some time and effort to get to the level where it shaves arm hair.

I had long admired the Ek bowie, and asked for the Kabar version for Christmas. My son gave me one. My admiration continues for the Kabar version. Sharp from the box. A very purpose driven design and execution of the purpose. No nonsense, nicely balance just behind the hilt, smooth and symmetric grind. The Bowie sheath is slightly different in shape from the model 3 sheath, with the same type of retention bumps.

What I really should have done right after Thanksgiving is ordered two sets of the Kabar Ek knives (single edge, double edge, and Bowie), one for me and one for my brother.

I do not know how to post photos, but I will try to figure it out. I worked to earn the money to send my son to computer school. He knows how to post photos. Maybe when I retire he will pay for me to go to computer school.
