Which of the Kabar Marine issue fighter is considered the best quality. I'm only aware of a Camillus and Ontario version are there others?

Don't know if there is a real bad one made. KaBar makes a good one. I used to pig hunt with one and it help up well for years. After it was stolen I got another one. What are you going to use the knife for?

Ka-Bar's USMC knives are top-notch, and I adamantly recommend them.

I would say go for the #1213 (I think that's the number, I may be wrong). It comes with the straight-bladed black kraton USMC with a molded-plastic sheath. Its like $50 on Amazon.

I have a Kabar Shorty 5 1/4" blade and it serves me well for many many years now. Have never had any issues with it. Most of my buddies have the full size kabars with the 7" blade and they've trusted it with their lives. They often tease me cause mine is smaller but it's not the size that matters it's the person yielding it.

skip that stuff. get a BK7 :) or just go straight to the BK2.

FWIW, the 1245 (8" partially serrated tanto) is great too, but sometimes I wish I opted for the 7" plain edge tanto. I don't use the serrations much with the knife (I'm a little wary of using the serrations with a relatively long blade looming passed it... accidents might happen), and that extra inch or so of serrations would me more useful as an additional straight plain cutting edge surface, especially since I use the 1245 to cut down thick cardboard boxes.

There's a reason people call it 'the Kabar' (even the Camillus, etc. versions). KaBar makes a freaking great one - nothing wrong with having that and some Beckers.
