Thinking about picking up one of these in plain edge. Anybody already own one and if so how does the black coating hold up. Any minus points regarding this folder. Thanks in advance.

The paint appears to be a cheap Teflon type of coating. Mine came with a pretty thick edge and took a substantial amount of grinding, probably more to come later. Other than those caveats, it's a stout, durable little knife... My $0.02.

Only knife (out of hundreds) I ever sent back for a refund. It is the singly most non-ergonomic and uncomfortable folding knife I have ever handled.

YMMV, of course.
