I thought about all who answered my query about the blade thickness of Kabar production knives would appreciate the definitive response from Carole at Gpost@alcas.com:

Blade thickness is .161. The steel used is a high carbon, high chromium
stainless steel.

Carole

Thanks General:
I was aware of the blade composition prior to posting my query as to the blade thickness. It seemed that many members had no idea of the blade thickness of Kabars. Thus my posting.
Thanks for getting back to me. You were the FIRST meaningful reply received from my initial venture into the Forums.I appreciate your follow through.

I've often wondered what exactly Kabar tries to accomplish with this blade. I bought one based upon all the talk I heard when I was in the Army, and have been sorely disappointed.

The fit and finish is not that good, the blade is too thin and light to be a good chopper (although it is easy to wield in a fight), the grind is very obtuse, not making for a very good cutter.

I guess it is a jack of all trades, master of none. At least it's not expensive, and is easy to sharpen. I won't cry when (not if) it breaks. I use these types of knives pretty hard.
