I recently inherited a Kabar Mod. 1233 which had rotten leather ring grips. Any tips on how to remove the butt cap so I can replace the leather rings??

I think there is a pin through the butt plate and the tang. It might be hard to spot, but once you find it, you should be able to tap it out. New leather washers are available; there was something on this forum a while back (sorry, I don't have the link).
