I was wondering what you guys reccomend to care for the pressed leather handle on my kabars. I bought a leather water proofer called "Outdoor Weather Proofer" made by Adcor Products. Is this stuff okay to use on the handle? Are the handles waterproofed from the factory? Thanks

That might be heresy, but it does keep maintenance down to a minimum :D .

Duplicolor clear automotive lacquer in a spraycan from AutoZone is what I use.

Other purists might have different suggestions.

It doesn't need anything special to protect it.

I recommend maintaining a light coat of oil on the blade as well as the handle and it will last as long as you want it to. I've had the same kabar for over 18 years and it only gets better the more I use it.

Mineral oil works well. I've mineral oiled the handles on my leather handled Fallknivens: they've turned a bit darker, and the texture is nice.
