Title is pretty much it. Anyone have both? Looking for comparisons in 'feel', balance, chopping, etc. I've got the bowie but I'm in the mood for a new toy all of a sudden.

Thanks!

I just got a BK-7 from a member here but have not been out with it yet. I may pick up the Nine later this summer. It is about time for me to slow down on the new knives, they will all outlive me.

I thought a lot about the BK7, but I don't think it'd be good enough at chopping vs a 9" blade (plus what Riley had mentioned about his BK7).

I've tested both

BK-9 gets my vote!!!

What in particular made you favor the bk9?

I don' thave experience using either of them, but I have handled both. The BK-9 has a much more comfortable handle IMO, but I don't know how important that is in a chopper. The shape of the BK-9's blade would also put the weight more towards the front, giving some better chopping power.

don't have the nine, but have the seven. also have the big bowie. put it this way, i bought another bowie i liked it that much. the 1085 steel is great!
the seven usually sits in the drawer 364 days of the year.

I'd get the BK9, but I have never really used the Ka Bar that much. I have used a BK 9 a little, though not a lot. It just overall felt better to me.

The Ka-bar is thinner and lighter. IMO, it's an inferior chopper to the BK9, but quite possibly a better all-around camp knife. Depends on what you want. For a chopper, I'd go with the BK9.
