i got my new(first)kabar in (large heavy bowie)and to me i am really dissappointed in the sheath. i want to make a kydex sheath for it but im trying to determine the best friction point for the sheath to retain the blade. im thinking the the tab of full width blade before the bevel starts but the handle looks to be the ultimate place. im worried about wear on the handle.by the way im going with knifekits.com kydex sheath kit for the project. has anyone seen or done one for this knife? ALL INPUT IS APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!! (yes im yelling it out) THANKS

anyone have any input?

I know next to nothing about making Kydex sheaths so I really can't help. But Good luck with your search. Am thinking of making a leather sheath for my Large heavy bowie. IMO the factory sheath does it's job but could definantly be better.

not familiar with kydex (I assume it is an imitation leather) if you post a pic of the knife and an idea of what you want ie mountain man style, quick access, good holding for packing ect I can help you design a sheath for it

i finally finished it, took me two days.i drew out a basic design and heated up the ole' toaster oven to heat it up. i pressed it with some cot padding sandwiched between the floor of my garage and a board (i stood on it for the pressure).i did the rivets with a center punch and a hammer(it flatened out the rivets but worked)and used a bench grinder for shaping.

Now that is really impressive. Good work. I just now joined this blog for the very purpose of Kydex DIY info, so thank you.
