Just got off the phone with KaBar, and they still had "a few" BK10s left! I really didn't have much hope that they would still be around when I called--It wouldn't be the first time I missed out on something while waiting to have the funds...

So anyone who was wondering about availability--there are still a few!

I should have mine in 1.5 weeks!

sounds excellent.

clock ticks down.

soon "sorry, we're sold out"

then the crying :)

I would have cried for a few minutes if they'd been gone, but I had a backup plan to get the Ritter/Becker RSK...;)

Guess I'll have to start saving my pennies again!:D

Congrats on having BK10s on the way to your house!

By the way, where is your house? Specifically.

Also, what time do you usually get home from work? :D

I'm in Green Bay at 1013 Far..... Hey! Wait a minute!:p

Hey if you end up not liking it for any reason I'm the guy you send it to for inspection and relocation of the knife. :)

Congrats!!!

I'll post up some pictures when it comes in.

Based on some reading on the forum, I decided to pull the trigger on a Spec Ops sheath for my incoming BK10.

So excited!

Why,
Is the Spec Ops sheath better than the one it comes with?

From what I've seen/read the factory included sheath is ok, but not "good." The Spec Ops seems to be the go to replacement sheath--other than the custom jobs people get.

I probably wouldn't have gotten it except my wife said I was "allowed" ;) to get myself a present to celebrate my performance review/bonus/raise for 2012...

Congratulations on the raise,
I'll have to check out the Spec Ops sheath.
Thanks!!

Yes it's very nice. The green one that comes with the 10 is OK, but the spec ops is much more solid. It also has split belt loops that not only keep it in one place on your belt, but can also be put on/ off without removing your belt. Made in the USA too. I've got another one coming (already been delivered if you ask USPS, but that's another story) in multi-cam for my 10. Here are some pics to tease you with.....

Thanks Wildman!:)

CCMI--Great pics, Thank You! Is that one OD green? I had wanted to order OD, but couldn't find it anywhere. I got the impression it may have been discontinued, but never saw anything saying that. I ended up ordering the coyote brown which I think I'll be very happy with.

yah, the included sheaths are more than good enough. they will protect you and the knife, and do the job.

if you want better, well, that's and end user choice :D

people would not want to pay for a knife with a factory sheath of the quality (and variety) that people often say they want. ESP if they end up just making their own choice.

some people would prefer no sheath. i could see that being an option :) but then people would complain about that too.

so, good enough is the compromise.

Thanks Wildman!:)

They call it foliage green. I went back and forth between that and coyote before I ordered. It doesn't look like they have the foliage on the spec ops website anymore (got min on clearance for $25 :D), but you may get some leftovers, maybe at that jungle website with free shipping.

Here's a pic of my sheath next to a Maxpedition bottle holder (khaki color) with foliage green straps for reference.....

Oh, and you'll need to mod the sheath slightly to account for the thumb ramp, unless you're going to grind it off. Guyon made a nice thread detailing how to do this: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ying-a-Spec-Ops-Sheath-for-Becker-Thumb-Ramps

All this BK10 talk made me grab mine off my day pack and give it a kiss.....with tongue.

I know, I am a sexy Ogre.
