I did a search but couldn't come up with any valuable info as too how the edge holding was and etc....

So i was wondering if anyone has one right now and wouldn't mind posting a review of sorts about it. Thanks in advance

I just received my Kabar Mule, clip point, partially serrated. I was totaled impressed with the workman ship of the knife. It is built very stout, steel liners, strong lookup, etc. I bought it with the purpose of making it turnout gear knife. I took it to the fire house to try it out. Put my gloves on and tested the lock. I did some light tapping on the back of the blade and and the lock gave away easily. This happened several times. What gives? How can a knife this tough and heavy have such a weak lock?

I tried my Spyderco Delica and a Kershaw folder and both held up. Even after
whacking them both pretty good (much harder then the Mule).

Needless to say I'm very disappointed. I don't know if I should send it back to Kabar or just give it away. Any suggestions?

Do this:
Click Search
select "advanced search" on the pop-up
enter "Mule" with no quotes as search term
Select "thread titles only"
Select Knife Reviews & testing forum
click Search now

You will find 4 threads about the KaBar Mule.

I would particularly recommend this one as I think it addresses edgeholding (hey it's AUS8. It won't be stellar but should be reasonable):
Kabar Mule Request

The Bladeforums search function actually does work. It just has some quirks to understand.

Frangouch, I am sorry to hear that. I got a Desert Mule recently, beautiful knife, but a monster, of course. :) It locks up like my Sebenzas! You couldn't budge this lock spine-whacking it on an anvil.

I strongly suggest you get in touch with Ka-Bar (or whoever you bought it from) rather than inflict a defective lock on someone else. They can definitely do much better for you than that.

Its a linerlock right? I had this same problem with my Kershaw Blackout until i realized you just have to secure the lock all the way over with your thumb and then no amount of spine whacking will cause it to disengage.

Sorry, I dont own this knife but i hope this helps.

Good review, Hammer27. Too bad they didn't put the clip on from the start. It works well in jeans or other heavy pants. I agree about the quality of the sheath. Even the vertical belt loop has a snap under the Velcro. Most similar sheaths just sew the vertical loop on.

Yeah. To put things in perspective, Benchmade's sheath costs $15 and most MOLLE pistol mag pouches cost about $25 so you're essentially getting it for under $25. A GREAT deal IMHO

Have you tried extending your lockbar a little by hammering out a section?
One of the problems you mau be having is that the lock bar isnt long enough so it doesnt catch all the way.

Do you really expect an answer from a 6 year old post?
please don't necrophile old posts for uneccessary commentary.
