Anybody own one? I noticed it's made in Taiwan. Supposed to be almost indestructable. thank you.

I had one for a while, very good value for money. You can liken it to a SOG Tomcat for heft! It comes with a cordura pouch which is well made and not an obvious afterthought. As an EDC for a tradesman it it probably hard to beat if your knife requirements tend to 'stout'

I've heard from several that the new models do have a pocket clip.

Very true. Mine has a clip. I don't have a picture, but it's a very nice low ride clip which can be mounted for left or right tip up carry. This knife carries comfortably clipped to the pocket.

Yes the new ones have pocket clips. I found it a bit large for my tastes, kinda like a Buck 110 on steroids.

The lock on mine had a little vertical play, but they are great value nonetheless.

The sheath is the absolutely most overbuilt nylon I have ever owned. A good match for the knife itself. :)

The Mule is a good knife. I would'n call it overbuilt, a Buck Strider 880, a Kershaw ZT 200 or an old Camillus Cuda Quick-action would eat it alive. It's quite sturdy but no sturdier than any other big folder with a 3mm thick blade. Keep in mind, the Mule also sports a hollow grind, so if I wanted a good, sturdy folder with a +3.5 blade arond 50 bucks, I would chose a Catbyrd or a Kershaw JYD instead of the Mule.

Oh, mine came with a sheath, but I think the newer version already has a clip.

I don't think there is another knife you can buy for $50, price at local store, that can touch it for toughness.

I beg to differ. The Kershaw JYD and Storm with their flat saber ground blade and extremely well executed liner/frame locks are every bit as solid as the Mule. I also think the Byrd Cara-Cara, Catbyrd and Pelican models are stronger than the Mule. They all have around 3 millimeter thick blade made from a fairly tough stainless, but the Catbyrd and the JYD models are also flat ground, so there are a lot more material there to support the edge. The Byrds and the Kershaws also sports much sturdier liners.

Make no mistake, I liked my Ka-bar, I used it for several month before I sold it, and served me well but I don't think this is the toughest folder even under $50.
