Thought you guys might be interested to see my first summer knife project. I decided to rehandle my ka-bar impact spear and sand off the coating. The original scales were just a little too small and the grooves hurt my hand so I thought I'd see if i could do better.Its a little crude because I did it all without power tools, just a carving knife,file, and some sandpaper. This was my first attempt at anything like this so let me know what you think.

Wow, i wish i could do that! I love the look of that knife. You made a cheap looking knife (in my opinion) look like a full on custom. I like how you left a little of that back lanyard slot for a lanyard "hole". Smart!
 
The way you described what you'd done I was expecting to see a real mess...and then I paged down. Very nice work! It looks great!
 
I'd like it with a mirror polish, the scales look really comfortable, and it looks much better with out the coating. Great job.
