Kabar slipjoint

Today I ran across a stag handled kabar trapper. It was in very nice condition. The sheild had NWKC stamped into it. I am guessing that this is for the Northwest Knife Collectors.
does anyone know about these? When they were released?Any idea of a value? It is in a small shop here in town and I am thinking of picking it up.
