I decided to pull the trigger on the Kabar Snody Big Boss in S35VN for $55 on the Kabar site. Reason being, I was looking for a dedicated food prep knife that is stainless and packable in a 4" configuration with belly. We don't RV or trailer camp or pay to camp. So I bring what I can pack on me. I don't have any stainless fixed blades so this is why - I don't want to worry about rusting, etc. I figured $55 is a pretty good deal for a S35VN knife that is fetching well over double that elsewhere. I contacted Kabar and they said they are discontinuing the knife so this is the reason for such a low price. Whatever stock they have remaining needs to go. I've never had a blade in S35VN so this is a first. I was considering the Buck Selkirk for this but it is made in China and does not have the BOS heat treat.

It was around $8. Yeah I figured it was too good to be true. And with all the other blades I was looking at in the same $40-55 price range that were 420HC, it was a steal! Apparently Kabar has a bunch of the Big Boss and smaller Boss left. The smaller Boss is only $40 but chisel grind. And both are non-skeletonized full width full length tang.

Too Good to be TRUE....S35VN for a Steal of a DEAL.Wish it wasn't just US only shipping.

Anyway,I do have this knife and Ka-Bar's S35VN takes a mean wicked edge.My only complain are the plastic handles. If only there were some aftermarket options.

Might be a tad thick for a Food prep knife.

I ordered one😜..Of course I fouled up and ordered the chisel grind one and then realized😠.....
Hopefully they catch my email and or phone call and.fix it......Otherwise I've added two more to the collection😜...

I don't really sell my knives, unless of course its a must for a situation.

Yeah, I'm interested in S35VN. I have never used or sharpened it before. A lot of people say they don't like the scales. But that looks like it could be an easy fix as they come off easy. I'm sure making some contoured G10 or micarta wouldn't be too difficult. Might even send an e-mail to The Knife Connection and see what magic they can work.

Whelp, I had to order one as well. Ugly handles or not, that deal was too good to pass up.

FYI, This is Not a full tang but more what might be termed a stick tang. The Handle is made up of two halves and each has a slot going length wise.
