Kabar style knives

Stay away from the Smith & Wesson knives. They're made by Taylor Cutlery, and suffice it to say that the S&W name is tarnished by the lack of quality they ascribe to. I would highly recommend either Kabar or Camillus.

I agree with buckycat. With Camillus or Kabar you get a real knife- Combat proven dependability.

Ok, I forget the S&W

Now

Ka-bar or Camillus?

Camillus is about ¾ of the Ka-bar price.

I remember reading a review somewhere which indicated the Camillus slightly outperformed the Kabar. That being said, I myself have a very strong preference for the Kabar. The price difference is relatively small ($30 compared to $38 or so) and there are more handle/blade options available with Kabar.

Wow, every sentence I wrote ended with "Kabar..." There's a signal. :D

Kabar is fine, camillus fine, the current (since the early 80's) ontario issue f/u's are fine also. I have some old issue ontario's Ive had for years that work just fine. I was active duty AF for 8 yrs (88-96) and we used the issue ontarios (of course, only ones being issued at the time), adn they were fine. I carried one through desert shiled/storm.

38$ for a Kabar?

Where is that?

The lowest price I saw was 48$ for a 1212
