BOKER MAGNUM LARGE FOLDER

Ive heard good things about Kabars, but I question the blade steel (anyone know what type it is? All it says is stainless steel). It has G10 handles (good?) Other than that, I like the plain design of the tactical folder.

The Boker Magnum has a 440 stainless blade and G10 handles. I like the design of it as well.

Both knives have almost the same features, just different designs. I havent had any experience with either of these knives so I need your opinions, guys! I want the one with the best ability to hold an edge, feel the best in my hand, you know.

PS. Prices are in Australian Dollars.

This Kabar uses 3Cr13 wich is a Chinese equivalent of 420 Mod. SS, it falls between 420HC and 420J:

440A = 0.7% Carbon
420HC = 0.45% Carbon
420 mod = 0.35% Carbon
420J = 0.15%

of the two I would chose the ka-bar. The ka-bar line has better made products and reputation than the boker magnum series. I had a boker magnum knife before, it was ok but not for the price on that site. But honestly I would not choose either one. There are far better knives out there in the same price range. Some I would recomend are spyderco persistence/tenacious, ontario rat1 folder, some benchmade red class knives, byrd knives, a few boker plus knives(mainly ones designed by chad los banos.) Also shop around different places the prices on the site you linked are abit high. Oh and some advice;it is better to spend alot of money on one really good knife than getting a bunch of decent knives at decent prices, trust me it will save you alot of money in the long run

Thantos - The prices are in Australian Dollars and the prices are very average. With the exception of eBay, this site is one of the best knife shops in Australia (price-wise). Most of those knives you mentioned would cost me money I don't have right now. I understand what you mean about spending a lot of money on one knife rather than a few knives but I'm just starting my collection and I want to start small.

I don't have any experience with Boker but I have that Ka-Bar folder. It's not the greatest, right hand only, goofy pivot screw, a little on the heavy side, and the coating isn't great. It's worth the $13.00 dollars though, it will hold up to some heavy use if you need it to.
