Kabar TDI. Is it good steel and overall strong?

I wear a Kabar TDI serrated knife on my weak side in the front. It has a curved handle and I can say I dont realize its there. I like that I can get it if in a ground fight, if getting choked from behind, or if I am grabbed and cant move my elbows. With that said I was wondering how good of a blade steel it uses? Will it hold up or break under a torture test? If the blade and steel is good I will get a custom sheath because the factory one sucks.

The tdi uses AUS 8 steel. IV had a cold steel pocket bushman with that steel and it was decent. If your just using the knife for self defense it is more that enough. Should be plenty strong I mean what kind of torture test does it really need to pass. I'm going to be a cop and have had this knife suggested to me and am seriously considering picking one up

I've been thinking about getting one for a couple years now, but never have. So, that's how I'm going to start this post.

Though, I do know alot of people that swear by these knives as a sort of last resort/backup weapon. I'm talking LEO, Military, etc. They seem to love these little knives and KaBar always makes great products, in my opinion. If you're using this knife for self defense then I say it's plenty strong for that. If you're worried about it breaking when you stab someone, stop fighting IronMan. :)

About the sheath, that's up to you. I normally see them with the normal stock sheath, but if you think you need something else then go for it. Probably won't even cost you $30 for a custom kydex one.

Post pics, make me buy one too.

I hesitated getting a TDI but I finally got one and I don't regret it one bit. Of all my knives, I find that it deploys fastest and most reliably with either hand and as you mentioned, even in difficult positions. As recommended, I wear it in the 10:00 o'clock position.

I'd say it's strong enough.
