Does anyone here have the Kabar TDI knives? What do you think of them?

They are not my style but I really want one. I realize they are for self defense applications but how do they do for quick utility type tasks?

Here are two videos about them. Not bushcrafty at al but very cool.

I have one, I actually like it for utility tasks. The angle of the handle keeps everything lined up nicely when using it. It's pretty awesome! I didn't get the serrated version since I don't like serrations all that much especially on a small blade like that. However I can also see the use of it. I just wish they had been USA made instead of Taiwan made. However they still carry the full weight of the Ka-Bar awesomeness.

I've been eyeing the #2485 or #2486.

It looks like very big utility in a small package.

I have been looking at the #1480 and down the road getting a sheath from NSR tactical that holds the knife parallel with your belt instead of perpendicular. The have a 10 week wait though. Maybe I can someone else to make me one faster.

I just don't know how much I would use it since I have never been in a knife fight. LOL

I occasionally carry the 2485 (Hinderer Hindrance - Straight Edge) one, and also use it exclusively for kydex scoring prior to snapping as you can get a lot of leverage directly on the point of it. Otherwise, it would make a fantastic knife for a last ditch self defense tool. Really a great design, and the lock in the sheath is fantastic too.

I have a 1480, which I wear to work. It's very handy as a light utility tool, but frankly, the angle takes a bit of getting used to. I rarely use it. I have a theory that it would featherstick or tent stake pretty good.....but I don't think I'll try it.

I think the Hinderer TDIs are very nice. Pricey, but nice.

There not really my thing. I held one for the first time at Blade and it did feel a lot better than I thought. I can definitely see its usefulness and why it's well liked.

One of the best knives that Kabar has made in my opinion. It is very comfortable to EDC on your waist, practical for everyday uses, and is perfect for self defense in a pinch. Kudos to Kabar for the TDI.

Always have one of these 3 with me, but it's usually the one on the left:
