On last night's new episode somebody that was pulled over had a Ka-Bar TDI. The officer had a discussion that it was actually legal for him to carry in Illinois where they were, but also proceeded to say that it was a great knife.

I've noticed this a few times with officers using and carrying the TDI. It seems that not only was it marketed for Law Enforcement but also exceeds well at the job it was designed to do.

I have the small version and feel it carries very nicely and the sheath that came with is very usable.

I made a horizontal carry set up for it

Interesting...a few years ago an Austin PD (TX) officer had his throat slashed by a suspect who grabbed the officers TDI from his duty belt. He's shot and killed the suspect and survived but was seriously hurt.

There is also an almost exact copy made by Benchmade under their HK brand called the Plan D.

the tdi is a great design. whats great too is that because of its popularity, there are many different kinds of sheaths you can buy for them online that are much better than the one it comes with.

I had one back on 2005 and liked it, but ended up trading it on here after a few months. I've been thinking about getting another lately.

Weapon retention is a must have skill especially if you are going to open carry like police do. I thought ive seen aftermarket sheeths with retaining tab locks to help.

Just saw a livepd on A&E's YouTube channel where a guy had one of those ginormous CS Espada's on him, then another in his backpack!
