I received my A.G. Russell catalog yesterday and on the back cover was this knife. KaBar Union Hunter Bowie...6", D-2, made in the US.
Now I have always been a sucker for older Ka Bars and this one about took my breath away. Here is what Ka Bar says on their website.
Has anyone seen one of these in person yet? I hate spending that much on an unknown quality without some assurance it isn't just a cobbled up money maker. How is the QC, the fit and finish, is the sheath reasonably decent? Talk to me oh great wizards of the fixed blades, the gurus of the bowie, the swamis of the big steel, the professors of the hunters...what did you think of it if you saw one up close?

The other two knives are a Trapper and a Swing Guard. And while the knife is made in the US the sheath is coming out of Mexico but does look as if it will allow for right or left side carry. In honor of it's 110th Anniversay, KA-BAR introduces three new limited edition reproduction knives. D2 steel, burnt licorice roofline jigged bone handles, and special packaging along with serialization (001 through 500) make these knives highly collectible. Leather sheath included. Knife Made in USA.
