Dear sir Ethan,

im about to buy my 1st kabar bk2, i really like the knife... until i saw the thread :

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1174136-Broke-my-BK2

a broken BK2... i know in the thread you explained that the knife might have heat treatment problems and immediately you suggested to the owner to call you and you promised to have it replaced...

awesome customer service...

I also would like to receive the same pampering sir... if ever my bk2 will experience the same problem.. since I live in manila, Philippines ..how can I send it to you for replacement?

please enlighten me sir.

truly yours,

Jonathan.

thousands of knives made 1 or 2 returned per year as ethan said good enough for me not too worry. batoning I thing is a life saving thing only otherwise if you are in the woods theres plenty of wood on the ground you can break up and start a fire. if you must baton use no hard woods or evergreens, and only baton stuff 3 or so inches in dia. you save energy and reduce the risk of breaking a knife.
I may be outta line here as a novice but using you're head instead of expecting a warranty or the kindness of the designer too cover a stupid act is ridiculous at best!! so in short cuss me if ya want but battoning large hard objects and hittinf the knife with another large hard object is just stupid. forgive me if I offend but after some time reading these posts I'm a bit po'd lol! RANT OFF!!!

That level of service had nothing to do with who broke the knife, it was because of who Ethan is. First off IF you break a BK-2 you're a hell of a guy cause... DAMN! Second off don't abuse the knife and all will be fine.

If ever I break my BK2, I'll just buy another one and look for someone who can mod the broken knife into a smaller knife.:D

Don't be discouraged by the broken BK2's posted earlier.I don't think you can break it. You don't have to batton a knife. We can always pick from twigs to larger sizes of wood, just cut them shorter.

no worries sir...

i just would like to know what are my options if ever my future Bk2 have some factory defects....

you send it back to KaBar for inspection. they inspect it. they make a determination.

if you abused it, no warranty.

if it looks like you broke it through no fault of your own, etc (see their specific rules for details), then they'll probably be good to go

I regulary do hiking.. I already have a kukri for batoning wood. I will use the bk2 for smaller tasks, but emergency situations may come wherein i"ll be forced to baton with my knife.

You don't need to baton if you're in Manila. You watch too much nutnfancy lol

Hey Badasslibrarian.....

I would NEVER screw somebody with your screen name !!!!!..... LOL....... Seriously.....

If you have a problem with a Becker knife we WILL work something out......... Your being in the Philippines does not make you a second class Becker owner.........

Do I need to explain that I visit places with mountains?....

I joined this forum to seek guidance from Mr. Ethan ..I believe my questions are valid since im also a consumer...and I thank you sir Ethan for your reply, I will now acquire the BK2... your craftsmanship has reached the Philippines... many blade smiths and knife enthusiasts here admired your work... more power.... maraming salamat po :)

If I ever break my 2 (after I finish crying), I'm going to find someone who can mod it into the folder to end all folders.

Hey Badasslibrarian.....

That you want one of my knives and that they are admired in the Philippines makes me proud....... One of the most beautifully balanced blades ever to come to my hand was a Philippine made bush blade that I got to use for a couple of days about thirty years ago......... Like a light sword it was........Very nice blade.......

I hope that you enjoy your Two and that it works like the devil for you.......

All Best.....

Ethan
