Has anyone successfully had a blade replaced? Have a small nick in cutting edge and wanted to see success rates before I send it in.

Hi Lakanen

Good idea asking here first before sending it in. I agree that chips should just be sharpened out, in particular small nicks.

If you want, you can post a picture so we can see exactly what we are talking about.

If you dont know how to post pictures just send it to me at MilehighK5@gmail.com and I will do it for you.

I agree with the above posts; small nicks can and should be sharpened out. Pics would help everyone understand, and form an opinion, as to whether or not this is something that just comes along in the life of a knife that sees use or is a manufacturer's defect.

Even though Ka-Bar is a great company and extremely generous in their customer service/warranty policies and practices, not everything that happens to a knife is necessarily bad or requires a trip to the factory.

Posts some pics, along with an account of how the nick arrived, and I'm sure you'll get some opinions.

pictures or it didn't happen

HOW did it happen?

KaBar's warranty is the best

nicks are not covered in any warranty i can imagine? if you blow out chips, crack, or break the blade, now we're talking.

Beckers have been used to baton lawn mowers into piece, and do other heinous things...

and yes, KaBar honors the warranty as long as it's not abuse (like throwing, or striking with a metal baton, or ...)

I recently had a good experience with Kabar customer service. Not because of a nick in the blade, but a broken blade on a discontinued model was replaced with a current model of like value. I would not hesitate to follow directions on Kabars website regarding sending in a knife for warranty issues.
