Kabar Warthog 1247 (discontinued) Testing or Reviews?

So I work in a sporting goods store and came across this Warthog. I really like it but I was trrying to find some reviews or testing of the knife and couldn't really find anything. Maybe I am not doing the right search, but does anyone have some opinions or experience with the knife? I think I am going to pick it up tonight. Here are some pics for you too see.

there is indeed a newer version. I have the "original" just like you showed. It sees use as my "fireplace" knife, that is making kindling and fuzz stix for indoor use. I personally like this blade and have added a lanyard (forward location) and modded the guard (removed the upper section) as found on many threads. I like the wide blade and can keep it plenty sharp for wood carving uses. ive had mine for awile and would recommend it. One of my few 1095 blades and I think you will like it!

I know it's been a month but did ya get it? I have one and I love it but I haven't beat on mine much. And I won't now because it's still in great shape and they're discontinued.

I'm defiantly getting one of the new heavy warthogs.

I have one of the new 1278 WartHog. It is a great knife. I have batoned with it & beat on it pretty hard. No issues yet. Handle is still nice & tight.

It certainly is not the strongest knife i own, but for the price, it is a good value.

I know opinions will vary, but I like the old one better. I REALLY like it; tough knife and very versatile. :thumbup:
