what do you guys think of the kabar zombie killer good or bad?

please give your info thanks......

The SK-5 is a very good steel, and I wholly trust the Ka-Bar HT. The price-point of the knives is also very good. While they are a very gimmicky feeling line, I have full confidence in the Ka-Bar name.

I blame my Bushman. Made me fall in love with SK-5.

I know that sounds very wrong.

I got my Mrs the Kharon and she loves it. She is not to beat a knife up to bad, but for cutting boxes and such, it does well.

thanks for the info but need a little more please.

thanks.................

The steel is good. The Price point is good. The Ergonomics are good. The heat treat is Ka-Bar.

Summation? Buy it, and the chances are that you will love it.

i just want to be sure that this knife will hold up to chopping and prying and edge holding.

thank you for all the info.

I would not suggest prying. It isn't really good for any knife, just some are made better for the job than others. But for chopping (if you get the right model) and edge retention, they should serve you great, but make sure to oil them, SK-5 likes to rust.

Which knife are you looking at?

I just got the War Sword, and will be posting a review of it most likely this weekend (when I hope to go camping next).

My initial thoughts are mixed, but then again, I don't know if I really knew what I was expecting out of it.

I bought it to be a large camp knife, primarily used for fun, batoning (I personally feel safer splitting the small amounts of wood for camp fires with a knife, rather than a hatchet), and other hard use. And it is a large knife, relatively thick, and with a full length full width tang, and seemed like just what I was looking for.

My only other "larger" fixed blade knife is the BK2, which feels like a tank. I comparison to the BK2, the War Sword feels "dainty". The BK2 feels like a large knife squeezed into a smaller knifes body. The War Sword feels almost the opposite. The blade is just relatively short (vertically, if viewed from the side), so it also weighs less than you might expect. For some reason, I would call it something akin to a backpackers short machete, even though it is much wider than a machete.

That said, its a KaBar, came with a good sheath, a free knife and has a FFG. It makes feathersticks better than the BK2, and the extra length is great when batoning. The handles make it so you can always find it, and its quite maneuverable in hand because of the light weight. Mine came sharp, and the coating on the blade is quite nice. It also has the squarest spine I've yet seen on a knife. When I strip the coating off, this thing will throw serious sparks. Also, the point on this thing is crazy sharp, and the handle is pretty comfy for most grips. Also... My wife likes it, which is great news.

I know thats not really a review, but hopefully that helps you out a bit more :).

it is the war sword im looking at mostly for chopping. my machete does great for chopping and holds a edge after beating the hell out of it it will still shave my arm coooool. i hope the kabar does the same.

thanks for the info..........................

Well, I'll try to get out and do this review this weekend then. It will be posted in the KaBar forum, but I'll link it in here as well.

I have done a bit of hacking and light machete type work with it so far, and it has held an edge quite well. Its tempered as a knife, so it is much harder than most machetes, which means its edge holding is pretty good. After working with it outside through some bush clearing and some light batoning, I came inside and stropped it for a bit and it was good as new. There was no damage to the edge, and only slight dulling in a few spots.

If all you're looking for is chopping though, the Pestilence might be a better choice. Its a tad longer, and has more mass at the end, so it will chop better. In hindsite, perhaps I should have gone for that one instead. (the War sword does look much better, and also can do more normal knife things, and it has a wicked tip on it).

please send link after you test it i would like to here about it.

thank you my friends......

I have a question for the line, where do the sheaths sit on the belt? Like a Blackjack Grunt with the strap in around the middle of the sheath, or like the F/U 7in. Ka-Bar with the end cap being slightly below the top of the belt?

My War Sword hangs with the end of the knife being about 1/2in below the top of the sheath. There are MOLLE attachment points as well, but I don't use them.

Glad to hear that the sheath sits low. I really hate to see a knife that I like until I see the sheath (like the Grunt) because it sits where the handle just juts into my side the whole time I carry it.
