Is it a sibling of the #1232 Hunter? I just looked the 1232 over again in my case, where it lays next to a Queen #92, Western 66, and Bark River Huntsman. The latter cost considerably more than the sum of the other three - but I've had them for a while. The KaBar states Olean, NY on one side - and that Asian city - Stainless Japan - on the other. Odd that there are similarly named cities in China (PRC), Taiwan, and Pakistan...
Anyway - the Queen may be a bit slicker in the stacked leather handle department, although maybe it's blade is a tad thinner. The KaBar is AUS 6, I think, and in a dead heat, as delivered, with the Queen's D2 for the title of dullest. The old Western, an oldie with no box or sheath at a yuppee dealer was a $15 special - and is nearly as dull. The Barkie Huntsman is a razor out of the box.
I was just comparing my Buck 102BR to the Queen and KaBar. It came like a razor - has held it's edge very well, although it is ~.25" shorter in length. Of the three, the Buck 102, even the plain Jane version, is thicker than the KaBar - which is thicker, in the spine, than the Queen. The regular 102 is fine - the BR version borders on "It's too purdy to use!".
I don't know if this helps, but I generally am more of a fan of the ID-made Bucks than the imported KaBars. The Buck 119 is just a bargain - and available for $34 from Wally World. Compare it to a Bowie-style - it'll astound you. Use it - as a camping knife or for it's intended hunting use - it'll more than astound you - great US-made bargain.

PS If the new KaBar 'Bowie' is made like the old 'fighting knive', also loosely a 'Bowie'-style, and in Olean, NY, I'd be tempted to try one. If it's another 'off-shore' product, I might keep shopping... or visit Wally World!
