Kachin Dao thickness?

I'm working on a Kachin Dao, and am wondering how thin it should be? Less than 3/16" at the thickest with distal taper?

First sword shaped object, and I chose the Dao for it's simplicity and for use as a brush cutter.

Thanks

A picture of just what style of kachin dao you're thinking about making would definitely help. I did a google search and it's a very diverse style.

I first saw the style on FIF, and thought that'd make a good utility tool while expanding my skills on larger blades. Did a google search and it's basically a 25" or so long blade with a wider tip than base and single hand flared grip. I'm thinking for balance and ease of use while still being rigid enough I need to be about .150-.160 at the thickest, but not really sure. Know I don't want to get too thin, it's a fairly crude design for a sword, but weight is an issue.
