Kahr Arms Delica, the nasty little box cutter on steroids!

Just got this in today from a BF member. It's a Franken-Delica with some souped up Kahr Arms bead blasted hardware and blade stuffed into a regular Delica handle. The handle is kinda odd as it's blue black in color depending on what light it's in.

The knife 100% breaks my usual knife to handle ratio rule as the blade is Dragonfly 2 sized length right around 2.5" tucked into a regular Delica handle. They did this to make it stabby as you can see the shape of the knife but also be legal carry in those states that only allow a short knife blade.

Funny enough I traded a DF2 in ZDP for it. The Kahr Delica for me solves the problems of the DF which I thought didn't have enough purchase for me to really bear down on. I only had the DF2 for a little while and it made a perfect "throw it in the pocket" knife weighing next to nothing.

But I had just picked up a Cold Steel Lucky slipjoint in carbon fiber and I thought having a Delica again would make a nice rounded piece for my moderate knife needs.

The Kahr Delica fit nicely as it has in essence a sabre ground wharnie shaped DF blade on a thicker stock VG10 steel. It allows me to carry it around NJ and not feel to uncomfortable about it at Home Depot etc... the detent on this one is really good as well it takes a lot to flick open which can be problematic around cops in the tristate NYC area.

After taking the photo I put a Spyderedge on it and it's shaving hair. All in all I'm pleased as punch about the design though. The photo doesn't do the bead blast and overall fit and finish of this one.

Nice. I keep getting tempted by this one. Looks very handy and a nice change of pace in blade shape.

The Delica is a Fav. of mine and I just had to get 3 of them just in case there ever was a shortage of this little cutting
machine.!** 2 are put away and 1 is going to be used so that I can see what it can do and can't do ~~ but then again any
Spydie can do just about anything I have ever asked of it.*

I had one and liked it a lot. I can carry a bigger knife in Indiana, so I tend to.

For me, and I think i've said it in the past but I really like Spyderco's sabre grinds! Depending on the medium yes a blade can get stuck in it, but I find with the stuff that I cut a sabre grind nicely opens up the material for me.

The Kahr's wharnie shape is just something very different and I'm a fan of it for various reason. Maybe just because it's a little bit different. It's overall size is going to put some people off vs a regular 2.8 Delica blade. But I think of it like this I've never owned a Delica which I bought new. I've always picked them up used and for whatever reason the tips have always come broken for which I reprofiled the blade down to probably 2.65 inches so the extra length at least for my general needs aren't going to make a difference. I had considered a bunch of other sub 3" blades but in the end this one had the Delica handle which I like so much even though it violates the handle to blade ratio that most people have come to love about the Delica and other knives like CRK's.

It's really nice. Small and flat, carries easily, weighs almost nothing. So in that regard same as regular Delica, but with a little twist that makes it extra cool. I have been using and carrying mine, a khaki one, for months. Enough blade to get things done and a big enough handle to allow full grip, a very functional combo.

That's funny..I just discovered this knife on Kahr's website yesterday and I thought to myself that it was an interesting take on the blade shape and I'd never seen it on the forums.

I got mine from HalJordan on the forum. He took it apart and put some kind of lube on the pivot, he's going home and telling me what it is. But honestly it's the smoothest opening Delica I've ever had because of it. I just asked him what he did to it today to get it to open so smoothly! He said it's his favorite lube (sic) and that it doesn't pick up any dirt along the way.

A few years back I traded into a similar knife, a waved Delica that had its nose bobbed to the same length with a swedge put on as well. I liked the design so much I sent the two waved Delicas I already had to Charlie Mike for the same treatment.

I dig it but don't carry it much. I second the bigger knives in Indiana. Anything but ballistic!
