Brand new knife and impossible to open correctly using thumb hole. Seems that the blade pushes over and now is dragging on one side as indicated by scratches. Never had a Spyderco do this. Any ideas? ThanksDelicaScratched.jpg

Shouldn't be too difficult opening it with the Spydiehole.

Did you check the sides of the blade to see if there was anything between the blade and handles around the washer? The blade shouldn't be scraping the sides. Check the pivot?

Kahr Delica opens the same as the regular Delica.

My delica has those same drag marks, but it's not difficult at all to open. I'd bet there's either some debris in the pivot or its just too tight.

Maybe it's missing a washer? My delica opens fine with pivot tightened all the way down.

After checking my Delicas last night, the portion of the blade where you have marks (around the SEKI-CiTY etching) doesn't even touch the handle aside from being fully closed. There isn't a contact point to make those marks throughout the entire movement from close to open & vice versa.

So the only thing it could be IMO is debris stuck on the inside of the handle just over the blade in a closed position.

How tight is the pivot ?
I'd be surprised if it was missing a washer , but it is possible I guess .
The Kahr has a satin finish on the blade , it looks cool when new , but it does show scratches and marks when the knife has seen some action .
With the knife open and looking down inside the scales are the steel liners inside the FRN scales flush with the FRN or are they protruding ?
I would loosen the pivot , flush it out , lube and then retighten it .

I just went and had a look at my Kahr and it has similar marks on the blade to yours .
They might not be as bad , but they are there .
I think its linked to the satin finish that I mentioned in my previous post .
On a normal polished blade they are probably there but you don't see them as easily .
Also be aware that the satin finish on the blade isn't as rust proof as a standard blade and you may start seeing spots on the blade over time if you carry and use it hard .

Lock bar isn't fully engaged in the pic, it should be close to flush, try loosening the pivot and lock bar screws.

Depends on what you mean by "impossible to open correctly using thumb hole". If it's impossible to open when you press the ball of you thumb against the hole an keep it there while you rotate the blade open, then I'd suggesst that you send the knife back to Khar or to Spyderco. If it won't open with a thumb flick, that's not surprising for a knife with a very light blade and a fairly strong backspring.

The Emerson Delica is known for its ability to snap open quickly. To do this, a swift draw from the pocket is needed as opposed to slowly pulling out the knife which, unlike the standard knife, is what the Emerson needs to draw without opening.

The Kahr is no different than the variants in opening difficulty and strength. It should be able to open in a normal draw fashion and to be quickly deployed with a flick (of either your finger, thumb or side of a pocket), which a traditional folder cannot do.

If it cannot be opened either way, the knife has problems. Send it in under warranty.
