A freind from Japan sent me this and I got it today. :thumbup:









 
Cool. How long is it? It doesn't look as polished as those sold in the U.S. under the Shun label. Still looks like one very functional knife. I wish I had friends like that.

KAI is one of the biggest cutlery manufacturers in Japan, their knives are very common among professional and in households. They manufacture several lines of knives, ironically, Shun is for the export market only and not sold domestically. This one is an economy knife, mostly machine made, not forged, plastic ferrule, and extra short for a yanagi, but still decent enough to do its job.
