Seems like the problematic platen design on the 1SM is pretty well documented in some older threads. A lot of them mention a fellow named Mark Reich (ytreich on Knife Forums) who made some more suitable replacement platens for this Kalamazoo. Problem is, I have no way of getting in contact with him since KF won't let me make an account. Does he have a presence here or does anyone have contact info for him? If not, am I homebrewing a solution or is there someone else out there producing these?
