Is china makeing fakes now?? I just bought two of them with safety and I thought these where the real deal but when I got hone I found A made in china sticker on the back of one of them. They look just like the real deal. They got A very strong spring in them. Does any one know about these knifes??

boker maguim is a Taiwan base company and that is why I am asking this question. I saw the china sticker after I got home. The kalashikov from my understanding has always been aus 8 steel. There is no way that this is that steel. maybe some kind of stainless

G'day guys,
If you are brave and careful you could do a spark test or if not familiar ask a Fitter, Machinist or Tool maker to do a spark test. This will give a basic idea of the makeup of the steel.
(A spark test is putting the piece of steel to a grinder and noting the composition and colour of the spark that come off. For example a piece of old cheap steel tube chair is very low carbon and will probably show a short spark trace and it will be red. Touch the grinder with a metal file and it will show bright white/pale yellow sparks that will be much longer in trace and probably appear to burst at the end of the trace similar to a sparkler.
Yes use safety eye protection and be prepared to have asmall grinder mark on your knife!
A good spot is the very base of the blade at the ricasso.
Hope that is a help.

Boker Plus has some knives made in Taiwan.
But the new Boker Plus exkelibur knives are made in China.

So boker (plus) sells made in China knives for sure.

TJT has answered on Boker forum:D

"All of the Kalisnikov models are made in China or Taiwan.

It's hard to really tell...The ones , I have owned, were Taiwan made, and didn't have the first productuion run stamp on them...They also , didn't have a safety....I guess I just had Later models.

The blade shape and grind look different than the one I used to have, it had "Automat Kalashnikov 74" on the blade as well as the "Boker Magnum" mark too. Also, it might have been nice if they managed to spell his name correctly on the knife you have. (Mikhail Timofeyevich Kalashnikov)
