I have three CRK One Piece Knives and the Kalgard is a bit different on each. The Project 2 made in 1997 has a flat grey/OD finish. The Shadow IV made in 1999 has a flat black finish. The Project 1 made in 2000 has a dark grey finish with more of a polished finish.

Has CRK changed the material and/or finish process over time?

Thanks,

Kirk

Sounds like a reflection upon my life. I look at what I have been wearing over the decades:

OD in the early stages;
Then black and snazzy;
Anymore, I take on a grey and poliched look.

BTW: Don't have clue about the answer to your questions, but couldn't help myself.

We have really not changed the process or the product but over the years, the composition of the Kalgard has varied slightly. That would be why the colors look slightly different. Nothing to worry about at all!
