What exactly is Kali? Is it like escrima? Is it like the Hindu goddess?

Do tell...

Dave,
I cut this from another thread. Thanks to forum member K Williams for putting this together:

Arnis, Kali, and Eskrima all have stick, knife, sword, and empty hand techniques. Some schools just place more emphasis on different parts of FMA. It might be mostly stick work, or knife work(Sayoc Kali for example), or a mixture of both.
Check out these websites for a lot more info on the FMA.
