I was toying with the idea of buying another sheath knife and have always
liked the look of the Kalinga Pro. It looks like a solid piece.
I was wondering if there is any blade play at all and how is that liner lock?
Is it solid when it's opened? Thanks.

They are a good looking knife that all I can tell you... Some one will along soon to help you out... :D

I have a new one sitting on my table here and it locks up nice. The liner lock pops over to about 50% on that one. I'll check my other one that's in my EDC roution. About the same at 60% tops. Both knives lock up tight with barely any noticeable side to side play if you grap the tip and try to move it. I find both perfectly acceptable.

It is a very nice design for someone wanting a sturdy folding skinner in my opinion. The blade in S30V is just wicked.

I have 1 and it locks up tight as a drum side to side and front to back-liner
just short of center

These are classic beauties. Perfection.

I have five.....and they all lock up like a bank vault. All about center.

Also, opening and closing is so smooth and slick.......you sort of want to do it just to experience the feeling.

I haven't cut anything with them, but all of them exhibit the typical Buck edge that we see these days.....have-a-band-aid-nearby sharp.

;)

Thank you all I appreciate the info + pic's! They are nice aren't they! There is a
shop nearby me who has them so going to go take a look at them today. I some-
times get a bit tired of carrying clipits and my only other edc sheath knives are my
110's so I'd like to try something a bit different. Thanks again.

Don't pay too much.

I think you can still get these on the Bay for under $100, but some people are starting to charge more for them as they get scarcer.

Good luck.

I have one on the way home cant wait till it arrives
I have always liked the look of the kalinga pro folder & sheath.
When I heard they were discontinued I immediately order one for the collection.
Now I'm debating if I should order the fixed blade version as well.
Good luck keep us updated when/if you get yours.
I'll do a quick post once I get mine.

Cheers

I thought about getting a fixed blade too, Cleber.......

As I looked at the new ones, I started to like the old ones.

:)

I picked up a mint older one (with the full wood handle) for about $85. I'm so glad I did. It's really a beaut and new fixed-blade Kalingas can't compare to it.

Now I'm constantly checking for Kalingas on the Bay and I'm realizing there are a lot of nice older ones out there.

I'll keep the price in mind, thanks for that. I see on ebay there right around a hundred.
I can see them being a bit higher up here in Canada and I will have to factor in what
shipping might cost me as well. Who knows I might be able to dicker a bit with the
shop as well. :)

I had to have both K-P's in S30V once they were announced - the wait for their delivery was all but unbearable. The fb stared at me from the Buck '07 catalog seemingly forever. Then I had to have the folder, of course!

Of course:D

I'm looking at the older stag-handled Kalingas and Akonuas on the Bay (a couple of tastefully engraved ones quite reasonable) and I'm really considering some all-out craziness because they are so beautiful.

Somebody stop me!!

:D
