I was reading the Change in Kami Marks thread from way back and I noticed much more focus in the early threads on the Kami marks, who made the blades and collectibility based on the marks than I see now. It seems the focus has shifted to the characteristics of the khukuris in form, material, quality and performance. This evolving into a personal theme kind of how DannyInJapan described his pattern of acquisition.

Did this evolve over time or did the rebranding of Kami marks have the effect of breaking the collectibity aspect somewhat?

It's kind of amusing if it did since the old thread mentioned that the kamis thought the whole idea of signing them was ridiculous... One of the comments summed it up in a kind of neat way:

Firkin
"It may not be apparent yet, but the kamis are converting everyone else to thier way:

The kamis don't understand the significance of the signature marks.

Now the kamis have made certain that no one else understands those marks either! " :D

firkin's comment is indeed very wise.

can't answer your question...but it certainly has been discussed much before.
