Hey guys,
I am trying to learn more about the marks the Kamis use at HI. UnNfortunatley, the pictures from the HI site won't load on my PC.
Does anybody have the pics they could e-mail to me.
Thanks,
Shane

As long as we are talking marks. I need a close up of the HI mark on the khuks blade(center near the spine, something in Napali). I need to put it on my drawings. Thanks.

Shane - I can take pics and email them to you this weekend.

Cyber - I'll try and post one for you tonight.

Cyber - here's a pic of the HI mark for you.

Shane - I should have some pics in your email shortly.

Seabee - Your pics are too big for my lame dialup connection to swallow, but what I've observed on the villagers is that the kamis use Devangari script for their initials instead of the regular ones.

Anyone know what the Villager marks mean? They are different from the regular HI blades.
At the spine, instead of HI, it's BG for BirGorkha.

The villager marks are BG, for the Bir Ghorka factory. The marks near the spine on an HI are, HI. The Kamis all have different ID marks.

Brian

If I'm wrong, someone correct me. (please)

I was wondering what that new "4-cornered sun" mark was near the handle. Lots of them now have the initials, kami mark, and the little sun. Are the kamis sponsored by New Mexico now? :D That's what it reminds me of.

Raghorn maxxed out my e-mail account with a bunch of great pics. Thank You! And thank you to everybody for adding to them. I'm going to keep them on record.
Who is the Kami with No Name?

Uncle Bill, was Sgt. Karka a member of these Kamis, or
does he work entirely solo?

I'm not UB but I can answer this one I think. Sarge Karka works solo. He spent some time in the shop at BirGhorka for a while making khuks though.:)

The KNN as Bill said were three different guys. They evidently had their own system of marking, all of them using a variation of the butter lamp. Or at least that's the best guess Walosi had and everyone agreed with him based on the three different lamps that KNN used.:D

Aaahh...
thanks for the info Yvsa...
I must say, out of all my Khuks so far...
Lets just say, I hope more Sgt. Karka khuks
come around sometime soon...;)

The kami mark that resembles the New Mexico sun was first used by a team - Jag and Prem. Their "final exam" khuk, for admission to the BirGorkha squad, was the first Chitlangi (which Yvsa snagged with some virtuoso mousework :) ). Their knives were some of the best, for the short time they stayed. Someone else may be using it now, with all the swapping that has gone on, but they were the first I know of to use the sunburst.

Wait! Wait! You are confusing my research for my upcoming book, "Kamis I Haven't Known." I thought Jag and Prem used a circle with points at 3,6,9 and 12 -- not parallel lines like "New Mexico, Land of Enchantment."

Clint Eastwood.

I haven't seen any KNN blades in awhile. Are they still making stuff? My first HI was a KNN.

TO everybody who brought me up to speed on Kami marks a big thank you!

Especially to Raghorn who spent two evenings e-mailing me everything he had!
Thanks dude!
Shane

I thought Jag and Prem made those funny looking...no, wait...that was Penn & Teller :D
