Anyone else here have a Khukuri by Raju Rasaili, who's mark is the Indian swastika?

Since every kami evidently has their own styles or tendencies in their knives, I'm curious on how his work compares to the Khukuris made by other kamis. There's no info on him on the HI website other than his name and mark.

Mrostov;
My first khukuri from Uncle Bill was a 18" 1lbs 2oz Kobra from Raju. I got a chance to chop some logs last night and the tang came throgh with flying colors(BTW so did my BAS). I like it a lot. It's got very neutral balance and is very fast.
Look at this thread too

Feth got a Raju blade and seems to like it. The other guys have nickname Raju "amtrack" because his initials are R.R.

Hope your enjoying Raju's work as much as I am.

As Red said, I got a 18in Ak from Raju Rasaili last week. I do not have any other Khukuri to compare it to but comparing to other knives and what not that I have I am very pleased with it. Both in fit and finish and how it chops. I was able to "teach" some small pine trees (about 2") a lesson on starting to grow in my back yard. :)

Ok, so that's who they mean when the people here say, "Amtrack." I was wondering about that.

I can see this. The handle contours are very similar and the karda and chakma handles are very similar in profile. Notice some of the same look on the bevels. This guy RR does good work. Mamav likes her AK by Amtrak and after sharpening it up it does a great job in the kitchen.
Have BAS models by Bura, Kesar and Amtrak. Picked some up as gifts and still have 3 left (they're already spoken for). The blades are very similar on each with the Bura and Amtrak being the harder than the Kesar. The big difference is in the handles. The Amtrak has that flatter profile (not quite as round in cross section) than the others. One benefit from hanging around Sher is the more generous size of the handle as compared with the one by Bura which is the smallest of the three. Weights are almost the same for each one. Detail on the sword of shiva and chos is about the same. The one by Bura is a little sharper in this respect.

Thanks Hoghead, that's important for me to keep in miind. The bigger handles could be a problem for me since I have small hands.

Bura and Sanu typically made small handles. The handle can make a big difference! If you can't hang on to the khuk comfortably it ain't much good.

Easier to reshape a big handle to smaller than the other way round.

If you have the inclination.

Yup, pretty hard to file that material back on, real easy to file it off!

My sentiments exactly. I have long fingers and often have a problem with the handles being too small. Give me a monster handle to play with and I'll happily sand it down to size.

Resizing horn handles is a little more difficult than I'd like to get into. Besides, the kamis are better at caving than I am.
