Can anyone help me ID the Kami who made my new KLVUK?

I'm no expert, Auntie would certainly know. Only from what I've read, that appears to be a Butter Lamp IMHO. Ironically made by KNN Kami. Otherwise know as the Kami with No Name.

Thank BB... I though it might be a rising sun... Will wait and see what Auntie says

The marking (which seems to be initials) is done in Nepali.
The symbol/alphabet `के´ = `K´ and `ला´ = `La´.
So I'm guessing Keshar Lal.

P.S. The symbol below the initials is not a butter lamp or a rising sun but is actually a moon. The same moon symbol is used in the Nepali national flag as well.

Thank you SO much Chandra!

When I can't ID a mark, I try to decipher the characters but I'm lousy at it. Do you have a good source for the Nepali characters?

Wish I saw this earlier! The Nepali does match Keshar Lal, and to my knowledge he is the only one who can actually make a true KLVUK, since it stands for Keshar Lal Village Utility Knife. Most of them are unmarked, but I've received 2 that were marked (one for a friend) and I'm sure there are many more.

This mark is different from the others I've seen though. He had taken the Crescent Moon mark used by the retired Master Kami Bura, but it seems like he has changed it a bit.

Here is my marked KLVUK

Edit: PS, remove the semicolon ";" from the end of that link and it works properly :)

Oh well, Butter Lamp, Crescent Moon! What's the difference? They give off light, eh?? Those not in the know should contact you directly without bothering Auntie. You certainly alleviate any guess work.

Thanks Bigbore. My knowledge of H.I. is definitely no where near most people here who have been following for years; as for scripts, I would love to help where I can, it helps me learn about different blades and more importantly the H.I. family. :)

Checking with Chandra with questions about Nepali character translations is an excellent idea BB.... if Chandra doesn't mind I'll take advantage of his kind offer!

ON EDIT: I've been keeping track of all of my Khuks with (anal) precision in a separate file. :D

Length, weight, Kami who made it, date purchased and $$ paid. I also take a Pic of the blade along with a close up of each Kami's mark.

One of these days (when I get time to take a breath), I'll post my pictures of all of the Kami marks that I currently have.

Bookie has a pretty extensive compilation of Kami Marks. Its posted around here somewhere. Ever changing it's hard to keep up sometimes.

Yes Chandra has always been spot on and quick on the trigger to help. I don't think she'll mind me saying, Auntie is my favorite but we all don't like to bother her since she has so much going on with Pala's health issues and running the business solomente'. So if Chandra doesn't mind, she'll be my choice. As for Bookie, I have yet to find his list. I'm sure it's great if it's like all else he does. His business keeps him from responding much or I need to purchase a KLVUK to be accepted into the club.

I should write down the details on my small collection, just 3 so far.
Pretty sure it is a Kumar Kobra 14", Pacthar 12" by Lacchu and 20.5" Gelbu Special by Lacchu

It's a good idea. After near 50 years of gun collecting, every time I open a different safe, I seem to find something I forgot I had. That's easy since they're all marked from the factory. Hi product is another animal, at least until i can read Devangari script.

Hello. Errm, I am actually a healthy 24 year old male lol.
I wish Mr. Pala a quick recovery. I have exchanged a few emails with Mrs. Yangdu and she is a wonderful person, very hardworking and dedicated.
As for the inscriptions, keep them coming. I usually check this forum every few days.

In addition to the Kami mark in my opening post (Keshar Lal), these are all the other Kami marks that I have (so far.... ;) )
