Got a 12" Sirupati this week. Not marked, Uncle Bill thinks made by Sgt. Karka,
would like any info on this Kamis.

Thanks
Wayne

I think there's a picture of him in the FAQ....

The Sarge does really nice work...good catch!

He's the one dressed like a Sgt.....;)

He apparently does not work in the shop now - may possibly have been posted elsewhere by the army, but still evidentally does some from where he is?

Anyway, HI is helping Sgt. Kharka's son go thru medical school in one of the 3 little states between Scandinavia and the rest of Europe: Lithuania / Latvia / Estonia. He plans later to return to Nepal and do good helping his fellow countrymen.

We haven't done anything for Ram in a while. Anyone have any ideas? Another raffle?

(I know that some do add tips/overpayment to their purchases for Uncle Bill's charities, but I was thinking of something a little more overt.)

The Sgt does indeed do wonderful work. I got a bilton by him and it is probably the nicest khuk I own.

Is there any markings at all on the Khuk ? Sgt. Karka sometimes puts small circles on them right where the khuk makes it's bend near the spine.

I think the 15" AK by Sgt. Karka I have is the best made khuk that I have.

No marks at all.

Feels nice when in hand. Blade looks real nice. Not shinning, can see grain in metal, just like fine piece of hard wood. I do not know if that is good or bad.
When I hold it feels like it was made for me. Real strange.

Uncle says that the khuks find/choose their rightful owners.

If it tells you it was made for you, it was, so accept it. Listen to it and it will teach you.

Part of HIKV is understanding that what is "really real" in the occident isn't necessarily what is "really real" in the orient.

Aardvark: drat it, you've reminded me that some guy is just about living on rice and beans to get his M.D. so he can go home and bring modern medicine to a country with a dearth of M.D.'s.

And that I blew over a hundred on a stupid hat. That hundred bucks would have probably let him live ( comparatively ) high off the hog for 3 months.

Rusty, didn't mean to make you feel bad. You have to take care of yourself, too. Can't solve all the problems of the world singlehanded.

I do know that, Aardy and Kis.

Just that ometimes you need to remember how good you've got it, though, to put things in perspective.

And sometimes you need to be reminded that a little lovingkindness and charity inevitably ends up coming back to you multiplied. Not everytime, but often enough. What Uncle calls karma.

Come first of the month, will have to remember about Ram. ( Right after my next firearms purchase - there are priorities, and then there are priorities ).
