Hi all.

I was going through my Father's old tool box today and found an old rusty pocket knife. Curious, I opened it and noticed the master blade is marked Imperial USA and the center shield says Kamp-King. I know these were like a boy's "first knife" quite a few years ago and wondered if anyone could tell me when it was made, value, steel type, etc. My father passed in 1999 so understandably I am very keen to clean this knife up as a keepsake. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I can't answer your question but it's an odd coincidence that you posted this because just this week I was recollecting my old Kamp-King (long gone now) that was one of my first knives in the late 50's, early 60's.

I'm sure someone here can help you find the answers to your questions.

Thanks for the reply, Blues. That would probably been around the time frame Dad got this one too, if not sooner. Its in fairly bad shape, but I've worked on it quite a bit already and I'd say its usable for sure. The paint-like 'substance on the hollow steel body (jigged to look like bone) is chipping off too, but it means the world to me. :) I've learned a bit from searching the Forums but I'd still like to know what kind of steel it is.

I'd post the question over in Bernard Levine's forum to see if you get an answer.

If not, let me know. I may have a contact that might be able to provide some info but I can't promise anything.
