I have recently become fairly proficient at free hand sharpening and want to get a few decent stones. The kanetsune stones in 120/1000 and 1000/3000 seemed good value compared to other ceramic stones ive seen.

My current sharpening supplies are a sharpmaker, 240grit diamond stone and a worn 4000 grit water stone.

I want the ceramic stones because they don't wear out like water stones and i cannot afford diamond stones like the dmt's.

Does anybody have experience with the kanetsune ceramic stones that they would care to share?

Thankyou
Tomas

Its a ceramic binder IIRC, not really related to the actual abrasive or stone type.

Its still a waterstone and will work as such but be slower wearing and likely better a cutting harder steels.

Also, no need to get two 1k stones.

Thankyou knifenut

i would get the 1000/3000 and use my diamond stone for reprofiling.

I'd probably go with single stones and a 1k & 4k or 1k & 6k. I went with a 1k & 6k arashiyama recently and am very pleased. Check chefsknivestogo for a excellent stone selection.
