Kangaroo Leather on glass problem

Years ago I purchased 3"x 8" Kangaroo leather mounted on glass. The leather is thin. Mounted this on a board. All my strops are glued to a maple board whether it is leather, balsa wood or denim. Use diamond spray (.050 or .025 micron ) green compound Mothers mag polish etc.
The issue is with the kangaroo leather as the knife seems to drag when stropping. Used diamond spray and have tried different amounts. Cleaned the leather with WD40 on a rag and applied again with less spray. Have done this many times to try and stop the drag when stropping. I recall when I first purchased the Kangaroo leather I used no compound at all ( final strop ) with the same issue. (drags). Any suggestions? It seems like the worst substrate I have to strop with yet was the most expensive.
Thanks
Ron

I just assumed that the "drag" was a characteristic of the leather. My strops are sprayed with CBN and work well.

All the roo I have ever used and I've used quite a bit has some "drag" to it, depending on the tanning process this can effect the characteristics of the leather and how it feels while stropping. Ron I have some small scraps laying around, you want to try a piece LMK and I'll send it to you on me. Stuff I buy and use is from the Birdsall tannery, it's a natural veg tan that is just under 1mm or 2oz.

Thank you for that kind offer. I have plenty of other strops that work well. Not sure of the type of leather as the leather was purchased more then 20 years ago from a Tandy Leather store near me at the time, and used them for making knife sheath's. They will outlast me. This is the only one I ever purchased and had to be about $30 or more. Just wondering if this was common with Kangaroo. Think you answered my question about anything I was doing wrong or could do to make it worth the money I spent.

I use leather strops and they all have some drag. But you can minimize the drag if you case the leather first and treat the leather with conditioner. Stitchawl has some excellent posts and threads on such matters, and he is very, very knowledgeable on these topics. Look up his past instructions , they will help you greatly.
