Just scored one for a steal of a deal. Buyer even sent it before receiving payment so I could look her over.

Was listed as used, and it came with a smaller spyderco pouch. Seems legit to me then again I have not really been following this model much, just couldnt pass the deal up so snagged it.

The only flaws I really see are small dimples on the ss ring.

Any reassurances are greatly appreciated. Thx
Eric

its a fake, dangit. Looks like the seller is gonna send me $6 back or Im tossing it in the trash. Sry for cluttering up the forum and not doing my homework prior to starting the thread. No skelotonized liners and official weight according to spyderco is 3.8 oz.

Cheers
Eric

RE_OPENED & ETA-Im wishy washy about this. Can anyone who got one as soon as they were released confirm that they never had solid liners? I do not think they have been out too long so doubt they have made any upgrades but just want to be absolutely certain. I mean this thing feels pretty nice and solid. The action is a bit stiff/gritty when opening but nothing to out of the norm I wouldn't think for a used model. The ring/frame seems to squeeze inward without a whole lot of pressure which I wouldn't really expect.

Eric, I'm not certain if the knife is authentic or not, it appears to be a very well made fake if it's not legit.

Would taking it apart show anything under the scales that might help you determine it's authenticity?

^he too cool for that. And thats ok cuz i take his word for it : p

Thanks guys and esp for the pics norcaldude

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Did you happen to get this one off of eBay? If so where they asking for payment after sending to you?

rycen, I would like to know how you have concluded this is fake as well. It has me questioning a karahawk I received in trade.

The pic resolution is very poor. So far it looks like none of the hex screws on the g10 and the pivot screw look recessed. Even the prototypes had recessed screws.
The text on the blade looks etched instead of stamped, but the prototypes had etched text.
I'm not sure.

Here's stamped text.

Not sure how early mine is. But it has a collector number of 036 and the liners are perforated. Also, and maybe this is irrelevant, but your clip looks substantially different than mine or the one posted above. The known fake photos, further above, show a clip similar to yours. One thing I didn't see, and maybe it's just the photography and lighting, but mine has the little Eric Glesser (or is it Sal's?) graphic just behind the Spydie hole on the Seki-City stamped side of the blade. Otherwise, I'd have no clue. The "rings" do press together fairly easily. I believe Sal said he might consider changing that at some point in the future. Mike

I recently questioned whether or not I bought a fake Karahawk but my mind was put to rest after seeing the skeletonized liners and seeing it weigh-in at 108g.

A couple of differences that jump out at me comparing your photos to my knife and the photos by LeathermanGX are the "SPYDERCO VG-10" marking and the shape of the Wave device. The marking on our knives is closer to the blade's hole than yours. On yours the cutout for the Wave seems smaller and the Wave's nub seems larger to my eyes.

Do you still have this fake? I have some use to put it to if you are open for trade/sale.
